CARF Accreditation
|
In April 2010 SBH completed two concurrent CARF accreditation surveys: Opioid Treatment
(Methadone) Program and Behavioral Health Services Programs. As of July 1, the results
are in and SBH has been awarded a three-year accreditation for each program area.
This is the fifth consecutive three-year accreditation award by CARF, dating back
to 1998 – not a minor achievement in light of continuous challenges in the service
delivery system. And over all these years, SBH has continually demonstrated our
commitment to quality care and business operations. In fact, CARF recognized SBH
for “exemplary practice” in four operational areas: The Client Directed Outcome
Informed treatment methodology; the risk management departmental operations; the
comprehensive personnel training program; and the community networking efforts by
the Community Youth Development Programs. The seven person survey team was on site
throughout Arizona from April 23- 27, 2010, ultimately visiting 21 different locations
from Bullhead City to Flagstaff, Buckeye to Apache Junction. It was an exhausting
week for all concerned. Through it all, one theme emerged – the commitment by SBH
and our personnel to providing client directed, quality services and upholding the
standards of quality in all business operations and service delivery locations.
We extend our gratitude to all who helped to achieve this goal and continue to assist
people with behavioral health concerns in each and every community where we are
located. And a hearty “Thank You!! to all of our dedicated staff members.

Homeless Outreach
Southwest Behavioral Health Sends Plea to Community
For Hot Weather Supplies
|
Phoenix, AZ – April 22, 2009 – Southwest Behavioral Health Service's Homeless Outreach,
a non-profit program to help homeless individuals with mental illness, is requesting
donations of hot weather supplies. SBH's Homeless Outreach program is not a
traditional shelter or food bank but is a mobile program that delivers supplies
to the homeless where they live – on the streets, in alleyways, riverbeds, parks
and near deserted buildings. The Homeless Outreach program covers all of
Maricopa County -- a vast area -- from Wickenburg to Apache Junction. On scheduled
days they visit soup kitchens, pocket shelters and transport homeless to mental health
and substance abuse screenings. With homeless populations growing to record levels,
the need for donations is greater than ever. Items that SBH's Homeless Outreach is
requesting include:
| Water |
Socks |
Hygiene kits (including toothpaste, toothbrushes) |
| Sunscreen |
Shoes |
Lip balm |
| Hats or Caps |
Lightweight t-shirts |
Underwear |
Supply donations can be dropped off at the front office of Southwest Behavioral Health,
3450 N. Third St. in downtown Phoenix, AZ 85012; 602-265-8338, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
