Southwest Behavioral Health Services encompasses over 40 sites throughout Maricopa County and several sites in Payson, AZ

Services are community-based, customer driven, and culturally sensitive. Treatment is built around individual and family strengths. Services can be delivered either in the home or in the clinic. Services focus on restoration, enhancement and/or maintenance of a person’s level of functioning and reduction of symptoms that significantly interfere with familial, social, occupational success and quality of life. Treatment modality, frequency and length of treatment will vary due to the wants and needs of the consumer and by site. In Payson, AZ, the Rim Guidance Division is a full-service center that provides a continuum of outpatient and residential services to the surrounding communities.
Goals In Providing These Services

To provide quality education and treatment, and support to reduce abuse of alcohol and/or other drugs, improve quality of life, and enhance ability to function in daily activities. To intervene with families with children at risk of abuse/neglect and to promote safe environments encouraging positive interaction among family members.
Translater and Interpreter Services

SBH will offer and provide language assistance services upon request, including bilingual staff members and interpreter services, at no cost to each behavioral health service recipient with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) at all points of contact, in a timely manner during all hours of operation.
Outpatient Services

General Mental Health Counseling
Outpatient individual and group counseling services are available for a variety of behavioral health problems experienced by children, adults and families. These services are designed to assist with daily living stressors such as relationships, divorce, grief and loss, loneliness, anxiety and depression, sexual victimization, parenting, school and career adjustment difficulties, hyperactivity, and others.

Substance Abuse Programs
Southwest Behavioral Health Services’ substance abuse programs focus on outpatient care for alcohol and drug abusers and their families through individual, group and family therapy.
Services we provide include:
Counseling through group, family, and individual formats.
Direct Support/Skills Training for individuals and groups.
Case Management is to assist with accessing community resources.
Home-Based Counseling is provided for eligible families who live in our service area.
Group Counseling is provided for people with similar types of problems.
Psychiatric Care through psychiatric evaluations and medication monitoring.
Community Services / Prevention Programs

The Community Services (Prevention Programs) division of Southwest Behavioral Health Services provides prevention and early intervention care for children, youth, adolescents, adults and families in local schools and communities.

Community Integration Services

Housing Opportunities
Southwest Behavioral Health provides subsidized independent housing, both permanent and transitional, to a variety of populations throughout Maricopa County including U S Veterans, persons that are homeless, persons with a serious mental illness and individuals with HIV/AIDS. Financial Emergency Assistance is provided to individuals and families with HIV/AIDS at risk of homelessness due to lack of funds for rent, utility, and mortgage payments. Housing is also available to persons discharging from the Arizona State Hospital. Individuals in our housing are assisted with community integration and problem solving to create a successful placement.

Community Based
Psychosocial Rehabilitation services are delivered in a wide range of environments designed to support persons in their recovery process. These services are delivered in the home or community and are provided to an individual or a group. Length and intensity of services depends on the individual's needs for support. Transitional assistance is also provided to support individuals during the adjustment of moving from a structured environment towards independent living, including discharging from the Arizona State Hospital.


Crisis Recovery Services

Residential Programs
Southwest Behavioral Health manages over 150 residential beds at locations throughout the valley. Programs range from supported independent living to intensely supervised (24-hour support). Length of stay varies depending on the individual's needs and ranges from 90 days to over 2 years.

Crisis Recovery Services
Individuals experiencing an acute emotional or behavioral crisis are provided intense short-term support in a non-institutional setting at our Crisis Recovery Units. Centrally located in Phoenix, services provided at these units assist with managing and resolving crises, which may pose an immediate threat to life and functioning in the community. Southwest Behavioral Health collaborates with referral sources to provide immediate assistance and expedient interventions to such individuals.
