Clinic Provides Free Dental, Mental Health Care

It's no secret the pandemic caused a lot of stress for many and children were not immune. Hygienists with the East Valley Community Dental Clinics noticed the problem last year and so they partnered with Southwest Behavioral & Health Services to address it. The Chandler Care Center provides free preventive dental care and mental health screenings to children in the Chandler Unified School District.

Flagstaff Hotel to be Turned Into Emergency Housing

A Flagstaff hotel has been purchased by a local shelter group to help those in need of emergency housing. Flagstaff Shelter Services (FSS) purchased the Howard Johnson Motel, located along Route 66 near Country Club Drive. FSS says care coordinators will be on-site 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Agency partners like Native Americans for Community Action, North Country HealthCare, The Guidance Center, Southwest Behavioral & Health Services, and Flagstaff Family Food Center, will also have a strong presence there.

Southwest Behavioral & Health Services Promotes Marcie Herzog

Southwest Behavioral & Health Services (SB&H) has announced that Marcie Herzog has been promoted to Vice President of Community Services. Herzog will be responsible for overseeing School Based Counseling, Community Services and Prevention programming, In-Home Services, and the InSHAPE program throughout Arizona. Herzog is successor to Edward McClelland, who retired after nearly 44 years of service at SB&H.

What is Eating at Us: Destigmatizing Eating Disorders

AIDS Walk Arizona is Group’s Largest Fundraiser

Aunt Rita’s Foundation’s annual AIDS Walk Arizona is the state’s largest gathering that supports people living with HIV. The Saturday Feb. 19 event that raises funds and community awareness features a 5K and 2K walk/run presented by CAN Community Health at Tempe Beach Park. Funds that are raised for AIDS Walk go to 14 partner agencies that are HIV organizations that have programs to support the community, including Southwest Behavioral Health Services' HOPWA program.
