Street Names: Nitrous Oxide, Whippets, Laughing Gas, Poppers, Huffing, Bagging, Dusting, Gluey, Rush

What Is It and What Does It Look Like?: Inhalants can be anything from household cleaning products to spray paint. 

How It's Used/Abused: The vapors from these products are inhaled to produce a fast high. 

Short and Long Term Effects: Severe mood swings, decrease or loss of sense of smell and appetite, decrease in heart and respiratory rates, liver, lung, kidney damage, dangerous chemical imbalances in body, tremors, hallucinations, fatigue, lack of coordination, muscle weakness. 

What Teens Have Heard: "A cheap, 20-minute high."

Arizona Teen Facts: 1 in 5 kids have used inhalants by 8th grade.

Sign of Abuse: Missing household products, a drunk, dazed or dizzy appearance.

What Every Parent Should Know: Products that are used as inhalants can include computer cleaner spray (compressed air), model airplane glue, nail polish remover, cleaning fluids, fabric protector, hairspray, gasoline, freon, spray paint, cooking spray, correction fluid, and the propellant in whipped cream cans.
