What is a Primary Care Provider (PCP)?

The primary care provider is a physician (MD or DO), nurse practitioner (NP), or physician assistant (PA) who provides, coordinates, and helps a patient access a range of health care services. Primary care providers play a vital part in helping you maintain your health. Oftentimes they are the first interaction patients have with a healthcare professional. They play an active role in helping you live a healthier life. They deliver care to prevent, treat, and cure common illnesses as well as help patients achieve better overall health.
