When Morgan Travis graduated from Northern Arizona University in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in psychology, she wanted to gain experience in the field. After learning about volunteer opportunities with Southwest Behavioral & Health Services, she signed up. Travis enjoyed her experience so much that she applied for a permanent position and was hired as a behavioral health paraprofessional.

Veterans Treatment Court Celebrates Its First Graduates

There were only 10 beds in Mohave County a little more than a year ago to help people with addiction and mental health crises. The number is now 26 as SB&H has an access point for those in crisis that is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week at its Kingman Observation Unit at 1301 W. Beale St.
Local Psychologist Receives Patriot Award

The United States Office of the Secretary of Defense recognized SB&H's Dr. Wendy Bunn for contributing to national security and protecting liberty and freedom by supporting employee participation in the United States Army Reserve. The Patriot Award reflects the efforts made to support citizen warriors through a wide range of measures, including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployments, caring for families and granting leaves of absence, if needed.

Parents Taking the Lead in Teen Suicide Prevention

Citing the enormous stress created by social media and other factors, several school districts are paying more attention to developing students’ coping skills and encouraging students to come forward and tell a trusted adult when they think a classmate may be at risk. The Chandler school board has approved a contract with SB&H to help students with mental health issues.
